	LEHMAN
My name's not Grant! Look, there's been some kinda mix-up here. My name is Lehman. Alfred Lehman. I'm a driving instructor from Anaheim, California. Uh, that's in America. This is my wife.

	DORIS
Bone-joor! (Snuggles up to Lehman.) We're on our honeymoon. (She beams at Lehman, holds out her hand to Truffaut.) Jay m'apple Doris. Enchanty, Mon-sewer.

	TRUFFAUT
(Charmingly:) Enchante, Madame. (Kisses her hand. Suddenly back to business:) Now, who is she really, Grant? A sleeper you are attempting to activate? A double-agent you are debriefing?

	LEHMAN
Hey, that's my wife you're talkin' about, buddy! And who is this "Monsieur Grant", anyway?

	TRUFFAUT
Games, must we, M. Grant? Oh, I admit my attempt to ferret you out was a long shot. Frankly, I am amazed you fell for it -- the old phone call trick.

	LEHMAN
Phone call trick? What are you talking about?

	TRUFFAUT
(To Eva, who has re-entered with some napkins:) Madame, did not this man just pick up a telephone page for C.K. Grant?

	EVA
He certainly did. But there was no one on the other end! (Exits.)

	TRUFFAUT
Of course not. Because it was I who had that phone call placed!

	LEHMAN
Listen, Inspector, I still don't know what you're talking about. All I did was to flag the waitress for something to wipe off my jacket with. My name is Alfred Lehman, and this is my wife, Doris Lehman. If you don't believe me, just check our passports! Honey?

	TRUFFAUT
… as long as you remain in Monte Carlo! I...WILL...DOG...YOU! I will be a Javert to your Valjean. A Sherlock Holmes to your Professor Moriarty. A Tom to your Jerry!

	LEHMAN
Look, Inspector Truffle...

	TRUFFAUT
Truffaut!

	LEHMAN
Whatever. I don't know anything about this C.K. Grant of yours. I'm just an American tourist on what was supposed to be a romantic honeymoon vacation. So why don't you go arrest a jaywalker and leave me and my wife alone.

[Truffaut is about to say something else. Anthony intercepts him.]

	ANTHONY
Claude, you really have been working too hard. Why don't you go wash up? You're starting to smell a little...French.
